Primer Tipo: Condicional Real (Zero Conditional)

¿Qué es?

Este tipo de condicional se utiliza para expresar hechos generales o verdades científicas.

Estructura:

If + Present Simple, Present Simple

Ejemplos:

  1. If you heat water, it boils.
    • Si calientas agua, hierve.
  2. If it rains, the grass gets wet.
    • Si llueve, la hierba se moja.
  3. If you mix blue and yellow, you get green.
    • Si mezclas azul y amarillo, obtienes verde.

Segundo Tipo: Condicional Irreal o Contrario a la Realidad (Second Conditional)

¿Qué es?

Se utiliza para hablar sobre situaciones hipotéticas o irreales en el presente o futuro.

Estructura:

If + Past Simple, Would + Infinitive

Ejemplos:

  1. If I had a million dollars, I would buy a big house.
    • Si tuviera un millón de dólares, compraría una casa grande.
  2. If it snowed tomorrow, we would build a snowman.
    • Si nevara mañana, haríamos un muñeco de nieve.
  3. If I could fly, I would visit every country in the world.
    • Si pudiera volar, visitaría todos los países del mundo.

Tercer Tipo: Condicional Mixto (Third Conditional)

¿Qué es?

Se utiliza para hablar sobre situaciones irreales en el pasado y sus consecuencias.

Estructura:

If + Past Perfect, Would + Have + Past Participle

Ejemplos:

  1. If she had studied harder, she would have passed the exam.
    • Si hubiera estudiado más, habría aprobado el examen.
  2. If they had left earlier, they wouldn’t have missed the train.
    • Si hubieran salido más temprano, no habrían perdido el tren.
  3. If it hadn’t rained, we would have had a picnic.
    • Si no hubiera llovido, habríamos tenido un picnic.
